How to get ideas for decorating your new home
Once the new house purchase is complete and all the finances are sorted out with the new mortgage, you will want to get on with the fun stuff. Decorating your new home is challenging but very rewarding. Some people are very good and have an eye for what looks right whilst others need a little inspiration. If you are the former then you have probably already decided what colours will work in which rooms and whether there is going to be wallpaper or paint. The person who finds it difficult can follow a number of routes.
There are plenty of show homes around where you can go and pick up ideas. These are houses which have been professionally decorated, and as a selling tool are made to look good. Colour co ordination is all important, so take a look and even take a few snapshots if you can. Another way is to tune into some of the television programs although they tend to be a bit fanciful and often way out of the price range. The third option is to go to one of the stores and see what their ‘sets’ look like. Within the store there will be furniture departments and bedroom departments where a set designer has put together an attractive display for customers to look at.
The paint manufacturers have an amazing array of colours, and if you want to stamp you own identity on the house décor, then you can have paint made up to a specific colour using a mixing system. The paint shop will keep the mix details for you, so If you run out or want to touch up a wall later on, they have the exact mix on file. Finally the choice of colours is closely associated to the type of furniture and whether there are built in cupboards, closets and wardrobes. All these things make a difference to how a room looks, so bear in mind the furniture and how it will go with the room décor.
